I absolutely loved this book. This is the second book in a row I have adored. Maybe my luck is turning. There's not a whole lot of negative to say here. The only negative thing I can think of is that I wish there had been more physical descriptions. There was a lot of talk of eyes and eye color but other than that I couldn't really tell you what the characters looked like. I feel like I may have have been more connected to the characters if that had been there. Maybe a little more of what they were thinking and feeling as well. I can't really put my finger on it, but it's like there was some tiny thing missing. And as far as negatives go, that's really it!I thought the plot was unique and different. It was a beautiful story, but it was also very brutal and cruel. It gave me a similar feeling like I had after reading The Hunger Games. The situation Yelena was in with no escape felt pretty claustrophobic at times. But that's part of what I loved about Yelena. She refused to give up and stayed strong. And it was okay to get emotional once in awhile. Very female and quite realistic. I liked the feeling of indecisiveness I had while reading this. I felt like Yelena. I didn't know who to trust or who was good/bad. There were several things in the plot that I predicted were going to happen before they did but that didn't make the story any less enjoyable. Let's talk Valek. Good lord I loved him. He was the perfect man. Men like this don't really exist though and that is unfortunate. He was rugged and powerful, yet a little sensitive and romantic. Perfect balance. And I would assume he was good looking. In my mind he was, but again, lack of physical descriptions. This is a definite re-read for meat some point. I loved it. And I'm glad there was a decent conclusion to this story so I'm not forced into the next one by a drastic cliff-hanger.
