She soon discovers nothing is as it seems when people desperate for freedom beg for her help. Can Reychel learn to believe in herself in time?Review:This was a great little book! I say little because it was only about 200 pages. But those 200 pages were jam packed with a suspenseful and riveting fantasy. It was dark at times and touched on some very uncomfortable topics, but I totally love to read books like that, so that was fine with me! I think the summary covers the plot line pretty well, but the book does go much deeper than that. Reychel is an amazing character and I found her strength and bravery refreshing. Too often female characters in young adult novels are clumsy or stupid or a combination of both. Not so with Reychel. She was a fighter through and through. And her story was fascinating to watch unfold. The other characterizations were great as well. I got fairly attached to these people and when secrets started to be revealed, I was caught by surprise a couple of times. This is a really good thing when I as a reader can be fooled. The world-building was impressive and the book moved along at a pretty quick pace. The ending was a bit disappointing, but only because I was hoping more of my questions would be answered. I wouldn't say the ending was a cliffhanger, but it definitely left me wondering and wanting to read Oubliette as soon as possible. It was a very impressive book from an author I have been following on twitter for awhile. I had not read anything of hers before this, but I am very interested to continue reading her work. I didn't really know what to expect going into this book, and had no expectations, but ended up loving this series. I cannot wait to see where it goes. I think lovers of any kind of fantasy will enjoy this series. I also think paranormal young adult fans will enjoy it.
