I loved the writing style, and the humor, while not laugh-out-loud funny, definitely entertained me and made me giggle on occasion. The story was fun, and I really enjoyed reading it. But that's all it was. Fun. So I gave it 3 stars. I know to a lot of people that means I didn't like it, but that's just not true. I am a deeply emotional reader. And when I don't really connect with a book on an emotional level, I feel like something is missing. I don't expect to cry or swoon every time I read a book, but I would like to feel something. I just wanted to make that clear.I'd like to talk about the characters. While I enjoyed them and thought they were unique (at least the girls), I found them a little flat. Ultimately, I just wanted to care a lot more than I did. It was a fun read, a perfect YA beach read, but this book will never earn a special place on my bookshelf. And that's okay. It doesn't mean I didn't like it. I just didn't love it.Also, that ending. It ended exactly like I thought it was supposed to, but it was so abrupt. The entire story flowed so well until I got to the ending. And then it just cut off. It was so bizarre. It was almost like the author couldn't figure out where or how to write the ending. Even the location was weird. I can't explain without blowing this review up with spoilers, and maybe it's just me and I'm the only one who will have issues with it. Who knows?And then there is the fact that the girl on the cover has no boobs and looks like she's 12. Sadie is 17. Weird, and I think the cover is kind of a bad choice.Bottom line: fun read, not very much depth, but great for someone who is looking for mindless enjoyment. Just go into it with no expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised. I probably was looking forward to reading this one too much.
